Co-Witching
Maker Phoenix Tears Productions · Work date 2026 · Medium video call · Role control · Experienced by the compiler 2026-07-26 at 11:00
Description
Witches meet on Zoom. One witch has removed the memories of a fellow witch and of herself; the other witches and the initiates — the participants — work out what has been lost and how it might be repaired. Puzzles can be solved for clues, but interaction is not required. Participation can be audio only, or text input within Zoom.
Source. No published description found.
On the medium. Zoom is structurally required for breakout rooms. Video is not; audio or text input suffices.
CAMEO WOOD'S OWN ACCOUNT. Phoenix Tears' site blocks crawling. 'Interaction is not required' points at C10 = n, and there is a game-play layer that is optional rather than load-bearing.
Anatomy
Thirteen criteria after Lauren R. Beck. Each carries a source grade: M maker-confirmed, P published, F first-hand, I inferred by the compiler, ? not yet established. Definitions are on the anatomy page.
- Participants listen through headphonesnoI
A Zoom meeting joinable with audio or text; no headphone requirement is recorded.
- Participants move through space as part of the worknoI
Conducted seated on Zoom with breakout rooms; nothing moves the participant physically.
- Audio technology is necessaryyesI
The work is delivered as spoken exchange among witches on a call, so removing sound removes the content.
- Site-, situation- or language-specificnoI
The account records no required site, circumstance or language; Zoom is required but is a channel, not terrain.
- Engages with the history of a sitenoI
A fictional coven scenario with no real place or documented events.
- Created for an urban environmentnoI
A video call presupposes a connection, not city surroundings.
- Created as an artwork other than theaterunknown?
The maker's site blocks crawling and the account records no framing in any discipline; the optional puzzle layer alone does not establish game-design framing.
Did you experience this? Tell us - Intended to be understood as theaterunknown?
No listing is available and the account records no theatrical vocabulary.
Did you experience this? Tell us - Accidental real-world sights and sounds are importantunknown?
The account does not address the participants' surroundings.
Did you experience this? Tell us - Spectator must participatenoI
The first-hand account states plainly that "interaction is not required"; a participant can remain inert and the session completes.
- Has live performers other than the participantsyesI
Other witches meet the participants live on Zoom with breakout rooms, so people are performing in real time.
- Involves game playsometimesI
"Puzzles can be solved for clues, but interaction is not required" — a game layer present in some runs by participant choice, load-bearing in none.
- Uses props other than the listening deviceunknown?
The account mentions no physical materials either way.
